Enable 2-step verification in Storegate

2-step verification or multi-factor authentication is a security measure that requires users to provide two forms of identification to access their account. This helps protect against unauthorized access, as it makes it more difficult for attackers to gain access to an account. Storegate recommends this feature for all users and offers it free of charge as an additional security measure.

For Solo account (single user accounts):

  1. Download Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator to your phone or any other app that supports TOTP-based one-time codes.
  2. Log in to your account and go to Account Settings.
  3. Select Enable 2-step verification and click Start
  4. Enter your account password
  5. Scan the QR code with your Authenticator app and enter the code that appears in the app.
  6. Save the recovery code (Important!) in a safe place and click Activate.
  7. You are now ready!

For Multi-accounts (multi-user accounts):

  1. Log in with the Admin account and follow the steps above for the single account.
  2. Next, go to Team settings in the left-hand menu
  3. Click on the button enable 2-step verification for sub-users
  4. You have now forced all sub-users to use 2-step verification for login
